MANILA, Philippines – INIUTOS ni Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian sa lahat ng DSWD field offices na magsagawa ng mabilisang imbentaryo ng mga family food packs partikular sa mga lugar na inaasahang dadaanan ng Tropical Depression (TD) Aghon bilang paghahanda sa paparating na bagyo.
Kaugnay nito binigyan ng direktiba ng DSWD chief ang Field Offices ng Eastern Visayas, Bicol at Caraga, kung saan ang mga nasabing lugar ang tatamaan ng TD Aghon. Ito ay base na rin sa pinakahuling ulat ng Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
“The storm coming in may affect your areas. I checked our inventory levels daily and we’re all very high stockpile according to my reports. So we’re all ready with the pre-positioned family food packs,” sabi ni Secretary Gatchalian.
Ayon naman kay Asst. Secretary for Disaster Response and Management Group (DRMG) at Spokesperson Irene Dumlao nakahanda at naka-preposition na ang mahigit sa Php 189 million halaga ng food packs sa mga lugar na apektado ng Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1.
“The DSWD Field Office 8 (Eastern Visayas) has a stockpile of 11,363 boxes of FFPs while the CARAGA Regional Office has 32,000 FFPs prepositioned in Surigao del Norte and the Dinagat Islands,” ani Asst. Secretary Dumlao.
Sinabi pa ng tagapagsalita ng DSWD, mahigit sa 199,000 boxes ng FFPs ang kasalukuyang nakalagak sa National Resource and Logistics Management Bureau’s (NLRMB) National Resource Operations Center (NROC) sa Pasay City habang 60,237 FFPs naman ang nakaimbak sa Visayas Disaster Resource Center (VDRC) sa Cebu City.
Batay sa alas 2:00 ng umaga PAGASA bulletin na natanggap ng Disaster Response and Management Bureau (DRMB), ang low pressure area o LPA ay nasa east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur at inaasahang lalakas at magiging isang Tropical Depression #AghonPH.
Ang TD Aghon ay inaasahang kikilos patungong northwestward o north-northwestward direction ngayong araw (May 24) hanggang bukas (May 25).
Dagdag pa ng DRMB “Subsequently, it will travel north-northwestward across Eastern Visayas, then emerge over the waters off the eastern coast of the Bicol Region Saturday afternoon or evening as a tropical storm.”
Pagsapit naman ng Linggo (May 26), sabi ng DRMB si Aghon ay inaasahang kikilos patungong northeastward o north-northeastward sa baybaying bahagi ng east of Luzon. (Santi Celario)
