MANILA, Philippines- Sisimulan ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) ang implementasyon ng 13th feeding cycle para sa Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) sa ikalawang linggo ng Setyembre, na inaasahang magpapalakas sa pangangailangang pangkalusugan ng tinatayang 1.8 milyong bata.
Makatatanggap ang mga batang enrolled sa Child Development Centers (CDCs) at Supervised Neighborhood Plays (SNPs) na pinangangasiwaan ng local government units ng pagkain bukod pa sa kanilang regular meals sa pamamagitan ng SFP.
Bahagi rin ang programa ng kontribusyon ng DSWD sa Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Program ng pamahalaan, at alinsunod sa Republic Act No. 11037, kilala rin bilang “Masustansyang Pagkain para sa Batang Pilipino Act.”
Makatatanggap ang undernourished daycare children na may edad tatlo hanggang limang taong gulang ng fortified meal sa loob ng hindi bababa sa 120 araw sa 13th feeding cycle, na saklaw ang school year (SY) 2023 hanggang 2024.
“Rest assured that the DSWD will continue to provide technical assistance to our local government counterparts for the efficient implementation of the SFP,” pahayag ni DSWD Assistant Secretary for Strategic Communications and spokesperson Romel Lopez.
“Aside from LGUs, parents and caregivers are also enjoined to participate in the conduct of the SFP to increase their knowledge on nutrition and health education by participating in the preparation of meals sourced from local ingredients and monitoring of the weight of the children,” dagdag niya.
