MANILA, Philippines – Itinakda ng Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) ang 10% airline overbooking limit sa domestic air transportation sector, simula Setyembre 20.
Sa ilalim ng Board Resolution No. 2 (SBM 01-07-11-2023), ang opsyon ng mga airline na mag-overbook ng mga domestic scheduled air transport services ay sinuspinde sa panahon ng idineklara na pambansang holiday, espesyal na non-working holiday, at long weekend.
Ang ibig sabihin ng overbooking ay ang isang airline ay nagbebenta ng mas maraming tiket para sa isang flight kaysa sa seating capacity ng eroplano.
“The suspension of overbooking in the domestic sector will add another layer of safeguard against abuse of overbooking, especially during ‘peak seasons’ where more passengers are expected to travel, on top of the built-in safeguard against abuse of overbooking,” ayon sa resolution ng CAB.
Nangangailangan din ito sa mga airline na “to improve their offer of amenities to prospective volunteers who could be willing to give up their seats, with the end in view that no passenger shall be denied boarding against his or her will.”
Ang resolusyon ay magkakabisa 15 araw pagkatapos ng sirkulasyon nito, at ang isang kopya ay idedeposito sa UP Law Center Office ng National Administrative Register. RNT
