CAMBODIA- Nailigtas ang 27 Pilipinong biktima ng human trafficking noong September 26.
Nasaklolohan sila ng Cambodian National Police habang ibinibiyahe mula sa isang scamming facility sa Oddar Meanchey Province sa Cambodia.
Balak na ibenta ang mga Pilipino sa ibang grupo na isang scamming business din sa probinsya naman ng Sihanoukville.
Timbog ang mga suspek na magkakaibang lahi, na kinabibilangan ng ilang Chinese nationals.
“We are cooperating with the Phnom Penh and the Government of Cambodia in their goal in making sure that justice is delivered,” ani Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Acting Senior Special Assistant Robert O. Ferrer, Jr.
Pinoproseso na ang mga dokumento ng mga Pinoy para makauwi sa kani-kanilang pamilya sa Pilipinas.
“We are also making sure that even if we are successful in bringing them home — wala pang date — even if we are successful in bringing them home, continuous pa rin ang cooperation nila with the Cambodian government when it comes to getting depositions, testimonies, and evidence, and documentation to help the Cambodian,” wika ni Ferrer.
“Mababait ang mga Filcom (Filipino community) dito. Katuwang sila ng embassy when it comes to taking care of the Filipinos. We don’t have a shelter here but they are more than willing to open their arms, open their homes to those na nangangailangan ng tulong,” sabi naman ni Consul General Emma Sarne.
