MANILA, Philippines – Nagpahayag ng pagkaalarma ang Makabayan Bloc at hiniling na imbestigahan ang naitalang 3 milyon na pagbaba ng nag-enroll na estudyante ngayong school year (SY) 2023-2024.
“It is truly disheartening to see that instead of an increase in the number of students as we transition back to normalcy, we are witnessing a drastic drop of over three million enrollees,” pahayag ni ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro.
Ayon kay Castro, sa kasaysayan ng enrollment sa bansa ay nagkakaroon ng 2 percent increase sa enrollment kada taon, noong 2020-2021 lamang nagkaroon ng pagbaba dahil sa pandemic, subalit ngayon na balik na sa normal ang lahat ay dapat tumaas ang enrollement at hindi pababa.
“We must delve into the causes of this issue and conduct a thorough investigation,” paliwanag ni Castro.
Iniutos ng mambabatas sa Department of Education (Deped) na tutukan ang mga dahilan kung bakit bigong mag-enrol ang mga estudyante.
“We cannot afford to allow this trend to continue. The government must take immediate action to ensure that every Filipino child has equal access to quality education,” giit nito.
Umaasa si Castro na tutugunan ng DepEd ang nasabing problema lalo at dito nakasalalay ang kinabukasan ng mga bata. Gail Mendoza
