MANILA, Philippines- Limang matataas na opisyal ang nominado para maging susunod na commandant ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), kapalit ni Admiral Artemio Abu na magreretiro sa serbisyo sa Oktubre 19.
Sinabi ni PCG spokesperson Rear Admiral Armando Balilo na ang nominadong senior officers ay sina Vice Admiral Rolando Lizor Punzalan, Vice Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan, Vice Admiral Joseph Coyme, Vice Admiral Allan Victor Dela Vega, at Vice Admiral Roy Echeverria.
“The five candidates will undergo series of interviews and will face the senior leadership of the Department of Transportation before endorsing their names to the Office of the President,” sabi ni Balilo.
Pero si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. na magtatalaga ng commandant, bukod sa limang nominado, ay maaari pa ring pumili sa mga kwalipikadong flag rank officers ng PCG, sabi pa ni Balilo.
Si Punzalan ay kasalukuyang PCG Deputy Commandant for Operations at miyembro ng PMA Tanglaw Diwa Class of 1992, ayon sa Coast Guard.
Si Gavan ng PMA Maalab Class of 1993 ay ang PCG Deputy Commandant for Administration.
Si Coyme ay nagsisilbing Commander ng Maritime Services Command at miyembro ng PMA Bantay Laya Class of 1994.
Si Dela Vega ng PMA Class of 1993 ay ang Commander of Weapons, Electronics and Information Systems.
Mula rin sa PMA Class of 1993, si Echeverria ay kasalukuyang nagsisilbing Commander ng Maritime Security and Law Enforcement Command. Jocelyn Tabangcura-Domenden
