MANILA, Philippines- Kabilang ang limang Filipino crew sa mga namatay sa tumaob na Chinese fishing vessel sa central Indian Ocean noong nakaraang linggo, ayon sa Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) na binanggit ang isang Chinese official.
“The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) expresses sincere condolences to the bereaved families of the 39 crew members, five of whom were Filipinos, on board a Chinese fishing vessel that capsized in the Indian Ocean last week, as reported by China’s Transport Minister Li Xiaopeng,” anang PCG.
Base sa resulta ng inisyal na imbestigasyon ng gobyerno, walang nakaligtas o survivor matapos lumubog ang barko sakay ang 39 crew mula China, Indonesia at Pilipinas.
“From an analysis of the ship’s capsizing… it is preliminarily judged that there are no survivors from the ship,” sabi ng Beijing’s transport ministry sa official social media post.
Tumaob ang Chinese vessel noong Mayo 16, kung saan lulan ang 17 Chinese, 17 Indonesian at limang Filipino.
“We are saddened by this development,” sabi ni PCG spokesperson Rear Admiral Armand Balilo, at idinagdag na binabantayan ng PCG at nakikipag-ugnayan sa Australian Maritime Rescue Center at sa Chinese Embassy hinggil sa progreso ng search and rescue (SAR) operations.
“We are coordinating with the Department of Foreign Affairs, to know how we can assist the affected families during this difficult time,” sabi ni Balilo.
Pinasalamatan din ni Balilo ang Australian search and rescue reams para sa kanilang pagsisikap na matagpuan ang mga crew members.
“We thank the Australian SAR teams for their efforts, as we understood the risks they faced while scouring the vast waters amid unpredictable weather conditions,” dagdag ni Balilo
