MANILA, Philippines- Tinatayang may 56 street dwellers ang nailigtas sa isinagawang nine-hour “Oplan Pag-Abot” operation ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) sa Maynila sa pagitan ng araw ng Huwebes at Biyernes.
Kabilang ang 56 indibidwal ang mga bata at matatanda na dinampot sa Malate tourist area at sa kahabaan ng Roxas Boulevard.
Isinagawa ang operasyon sa pagitan ng alas-9 ng gabi hanggang alas-6 ng umaga, araw ng Biyernes.
“They were immediately brought to the processing centers located at the Barangay 721 Dakota Covered Court in Malate for biometrics registration and initial intake interview,” ayon kay DSWD Assistant Secretary for Strategic Communications Romel Lopez.
May ilan na ini-refer sa local government units (LGUs) ng Maynila, Caloocan, Navotas at Pasay City sa Kalakhang Maynila; Sta. Maria sa Bulacan; at DSWD Field Office – National Capital Region.
Ang mga nangangailangan ng special care lalo na ang mga matatanda ay ini-refer sa DSWD-run centers at residential care facilities gaya ng Bahay Silungan, Golden Reception and Action Center for the Elderly and Other Special Cases at Haven for Children para sa pansamantalang kustodiya at panunuluyan.
Sa isinagawang operasyon, katulong ng team ang Department of Social Welfare at City Health Office ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) at Philippine National Police – Tactical Motorcycle Unit. Kris Jose
