MANILA, Philippines – Maaaring punan ng mga Filipino seafarer ang mga bakanteng trabaho sa offshore wind farms sa bansa.
Ayon sa industry expert, ang mga ito ay “natural fit” para sa naturang trabaho ngunit nangangailangan pa ng “upskilling” para maabot ang job requirements.
“It’s basic that they are able to navigate on water, and then the culture of seafarers is to ensure the safety of the cargo. It’s culturally and professionally a natural fit for this kind of job. It’s just they need to learn more specific work skills specific to the industry,” pahayag ni

Idinagdag niya na ang pagkakabit ng blades ay isa sa basic skills na kailangang matutunan ng mga nais magtrabaho sa offshore wind farms.
Ayon sa Department of Energy, nasa 79 offshore wind contracts ang iginawad nila sa potential capacity na 61.93 gigawatts (GW).
Sinabi rin ni Ambrosio tinataya ng Global Wind Energy Council ang installation ng offshore wind farms sa 500 megawatts pagsapit ng 2029 at 15GW sa 2040.
“Talent requirement will ramp up quickly after the first installations from approximately 280 people to 2,800, and growing by an average of 600 people a year to 9,800 in 2040,” dagdag pa niya.
Ani Ambrosio, simula 2026 ay mangangailangan na ng highly skilled workers para sa project planning at procurement, manufacturing, transport at supply chain, construction, installation, interconnection, at operation and maintenance. RNT/JGC
