MANILA, Philippines- May kabuuang 909 kalalakihan at kababaihang persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) sa Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) sa Davao del Norte ang kinapanayam para sa posibleng paggawad ng parole o iba pang uri ng executive clemency.
Sinabi ng Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) na nagsagawa ng Bureau of Pardons and Parole (BPP) ng interview sa PDLs sa kanilang physical, mental, at moral noong Agosto 23 hanggang 26.
Nakaditene ang mga babaeng PDLs na nag-aapply para sa parole o executive clemency sa Correctional Institution for Women (CIWP) ng DPPF, base sa BuCor.
Ang Pangulo ang naggagawad ng executive clemency para sa PDLs. Maaari itong “reprieve, absolute pardon conditional pardon with or without parole conditions, and commutation of jail sentence.”
Ipinaliwanag ng BuCor na ang parole ay “the temporary and conditioned release of an offender from a correctional institution after he/she served the minimum penalty imposed by the court.”

“In the processing of parole or executive clemency review, PDLs who are already of old, sickly or are suffering from terminal or life-threatening illnesses, or with serious disability, pursuant to the BPP Resolution No. OT-04-15-2020 are the main considerations,” anang BuCor.
“The BPP resolution also simplifies the requirements and procedure for the processing of applications for parole and executive clemency by dispensing with most of the documentary requirements except for the Court Certifications of No Pending Case and No Pending Appeal and a check on the records of the PDL at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI),” dagdag nito.
Inihayag ng BuCor na dahil sa sikip an prison facilities, dinoble ng BPP– attached agency ng Department of Justice– ang bilang ng caseloads “for review and deliberation during its meetings to expedite the processing of applications.” RNT/SA
