MANILA, Philippines – Sa halip na ilihis ang tunay na isyu, hinamon ng isang mambabatas ang pamilya Duterte na sagutin ang pagkakasangkot sa extrajudicial killing (EJK) ng may 27,000 Pilipino sa implementasyon ng war on drugs campaign sa termino ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
Ayon kay Manila Rep. Joel Chua ipang saksi ang lumutang gaya ni dating Police Colonel Eduardo Acierto sa pagdinig ng Kongreso at iniugnay si dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at mga malalapit na kaalyado nito sa EJK.
“As past and present government officials, it is the duty of the Dutertes to accord the Filipino people the respect that they deserve and answer these serious allegations of connections to illegal drugs and the extrajudicial killings,” sabi ni Chua.
“Because what has happened so far is just political deflection. The recent controversial ‘designated survivor’ statement of Vice President Sara Duterte is a prime example of this. As the issue hangs over the heads of the Duterte family, instead of answering directly, they deflect the issue,” dagdag pa nito.
Nais ni Chua na makakuha ng categorical answer lalo at direkta umanong sinabi ni Acierto na si Duterte ay protektor ni Michael Yang, ang dating economic adviser ng dating Pangulo na inaakusahang isang drug lord.
Nauna ng ipinag-utos ng House Committee on Dangerous Drugs ang pag-aresto kay Yang na lumutang ang pangalan sa isinasagawa nitong imbestigasyon kaugnay ng nakumpiskang P3.6 bilyong shabu sa isang warehouse sa Mexico, Pampanga.
“Idinawit yung economic adviser mo sa drugs, tapos you don’t confront the issue head-on? It defies human experience if they will continue to ignore the issue and pursue political deflection as a strategy,” sabi ni Chua.
Habang nagsasagawa ng pagdinig ang komite, biglang inilutang ni Vice President Sara Duterte na tatakbo sa pagkasenador ang kanyang ama at mga kapatid na sina Davao City Mayor Baste at Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte sa 2025 midterm elections.
“They are neglecting their duty to the people, and they are setting a very poor example to those in public service. What happened to integrity and honesty among government officials?” giit ni Chua.
Bukod kay Acierto, lumutang din ang self-confessed na dating miyembro ng Davao Death Squad na si Arturo Lascañas, na inakusahan ang dating Pangulo na isang dating drug lord at ang pagpapatupad umano ng pekeng drug war kung saan 27,000 Pilipino ang pinaslang.
“It defies human experience why anyone would not want to answer serious allegations such as these. The right thing to do is deny it if it is not true. But instead of answering all allegations, they deflect and stir controversy somewhere else,” sabi pa ni Chua.
Sinabi ni Lascañas sa panayam ng Vera Files na si Duterte ang drug lord ng southern Philippines at pinaka-mapanganib na tao sa southern hemisphere.
Sa nakaraang pagdinig ng House Dangerous drugs panel, sinabi ni Acierto na si Yang ay isang drug lord. Si Yang ay nadawit din sa multi-bilyong Pharmally scandal.
Bukod sa dating Pangulo, sinabi ni Acierto na protektor din ng operasyon ng iligal na droga sina Senators Bong Go at Bato dela Rosa.
Pinangalanan din ni Acierto sina Johnson Chua, Allan Lim, at Allan Sy na konektado sa operasyon ng ipinagbabawal na gamot. Ang mga ito ay inimbita sa susunud na pagdinig ng House Committee on Dangerous Drugs. Gail Mendoza
