MANILA, Philippines- Walang destabilization plot laban sa Marcos administration, ayon sa isang high-ranking army official nitong Miyerkules.
Sa deliberasyon ng Commission on Appointments sa ad interim appointment ng 15 heneral at mga opisyal ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), nanindigan si Lieutenant General Ferdinand Barandon na ang AFP members ay “professionals and mission-oriented.”
“As for the AFP, there is nothing to worry about. Again, I would like to emphasize, as mentioned by our chief of staff, we’ll be mission-focused and we will abide by duly constituted authority. As [for] the retired officers, I think I’m not in the position to talk about what they are thinking or what they would want to do,” pahayag ni Barandon.
Ito ang naging tugon niya sa tanong ni Batangas 5th District Rep. Marvey Mariño kung mayroong “active plots” sa hanay ng AFP members para guluhin ang pamahalaan kasunod ng paghahain ng an impeachment complaint laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
“So being the head of the intelligence part of the AFP, you’re confident that there’s nothing going on as far as talks of destabilization and all that?” tanong ni Mariño.
“I would like to re-echo the statement that the chief of staff, as well as senior commanders of the AFP, are constantly talking to members of the AFP on matters pertaining to our mission and also our constitutional duty to defend the constitution as well as the people,” tugon naman ng AFP official.
Tanong pa ni Mariño, kung sasamantalahin umano ng ibang bansa ang kasalukuyang political situation sa Pilipinas, kasunod ng alitan sa pagitan nina Duterte at Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Ani Barandon, bahagi ng intelligence gathering ng AFP ang pag-monitor sa posibleng “foreign malign operations,” at bukas umano itong talakayin ang “specifics of the activity” sa executive session lamang. RNT/SA
