MANILA, Philippines – KUMPIYANSANG ipinahayag ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na makatutuklas pa ng energy reserves sa Malampaya gas field.
Binanggit ito ni Pangulong Marcos sa simula ng kanyang talumpati sa isinagawang groundbreaking ceremony ng Caticlan Passenger Terminal Building sa Nabas, Aklan.
Binanggit din ng Pangulo ang presensiya ni Energy Secretary Sharon Garin sa event.
”Energy Secretary Sharon Garin, who is with us today because after here, we are going to fly by the rig in Malampaya that is now slowly drilling down into the seabed with a reasonable chance of success of finding further reserves…,” ayon kay Pangulong Marcos.
Sa ulat, Oktubre ng nakaraang taon, nakatanggap ng sertipikasyon ang plano ng Razon-led Prime Energy Resources Development B.V.’ na magbutas o magbarena ng bagong deepwater wells sa Malampaya gas field na magbibigay daan para sa mas mabilis na regulatory approvals ng proyekto.
Sinabi pa ng naturang kompanya na ang Malampaya Phase 4 project ay nakakuha ng Energy Project of National Significance (EPNS) certification mula sa Department of Energy.
Ang sertipikasyon na ito ay tumutukoy sa pangunahing energy projects na tugma sa ‘policy thrust’ at implementasyon ng Philippine Energy Plan (PEP).
Kasama sa Malampaya Phase 4 ang pagbubutas o pagbarena sa Camago at Malampaya East production wells at ang pagbubutas at pagbarena sa Bagong Pag-asa exploration well.
“The planned drilling and development would require an investment of more than $600 million. So far, Malampaya has contributed over $13.8 billion to the Philippine government since its commercial operations began in 2001,” ayon sa ulat.
“It supplies about 20% of Luzon’s electricity needs and has significantly contributed to the nation’s energy independence since 2001,” ayon pa rin sa ulat. Kris Jose
