MANILA, Philippines – Matagumpay na isinagawa ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) at United States (US) military ang joint simulation exercise sa Clark Air Base upang ipakita ang mabilis na pag-airlift ng relief goods para sa mga komunidad na apektado ng nagdaang mga pagbaha.
Kabilang sa aktibidad na isinagawa noong Sabado, Agosto 2, ang pagkarga at pagbiyahe ng family food packs (FFPs) mula sa Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) gamit ang US MV-22 Osprey aircraft na nagpapakita ng kahalagahan ng interoperability, swift logistics coordination, at disaster response readiness.
Pinangunahan nina Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., at US Ambassador MaryKay Carlson ang pagmamasid sa drill, na kinatampukan din ng guided tour ng Osprey aircraft upang ipakita ang kapabilidad para sa mabilis na deployment sa humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) missions.
Pinagtibay naman ni Carlson ang suporta mula sa United States Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM), na tumutulong sa AFP sa paghahatid ng tulong sa mga lugar na apektado ng Southwest Monsoon o Habagat.
Sa kasalukuyan, 4,800 DSWD food packs na ang naibyahe at naiposisyon kabilang ang paghahatid sa mga remote areas katulad ng Batanes.
“Our partnership is premised on a fundamental value, the irreplaceable worth we place on every human life. That is very valuable to both of us. We respect each other, we respect human lives, and we are here to preserve that fundamental value,” saad sa pahayag ni Teodoro.
“To our treaty partners, the United States of America, we say thank you. And this will not be the last time. In the spirit of multilateralism, in the spirit of our bilateral people-to-people ties, we hope this partnership will be sustained and enhanced to contribute to the greater good of humankind.”
