MANILA, Philippines – Isinasailalim na sa fact-finding investigation ng Office of the Ombudsman ang mga reklamong plunder, malversation, at graft na inihain ni dating senador Antonio Trillanes IV laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte kaugnay ng umano’y maling paggamit ng bilyon-bilyong confidential funds.
Ayon kay Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano, “The complaints are undergoing fact-finding already. The process here is that after fact-finding, it moves on to preliminary investigation.”
Saklaw ng reklamo ang mga umano’y ginawa ni Duterte noong alkalde pa siya ng Davao City at kalaunan bilang bise presidente at kalihim ng Department of Education.
Gayunman, sinabi ni Clavano na wala pang malinaw na patakaran sa pagsasampa ng kaso laban sa isang nakaupong bise presidente na isang impeachable official.
“There are some legal questions regarding the immunity from suit of the Vice President. What we’re trying to figure out now, kung kailangan ba natin i-endorse dito sa Congress or doon na ba sa Senate. We will have to see,” aniya.
Samantala, hindi pa matukoy ng Ombudsman kung makakaapekto sa kanilang imbestigasyon ang testimonya ni Ramil Madriaga, na nagsabing dati siyang aide ni Duterte at haharap sa House committee on justice.
“The best we could do is monitor his statements. Because this will be the first time, I believe, that he will publicly testify,” ani Clavano. RNT/MND
