MANILA, Philippines – Ibinunyag ni Senador JV Ejercito nitong Lunes, Mayo 18 na inalok siya ni Senate President Alan Cayetano na maging Senate Majority Leader, na kanya umanong tinanggihan.
“I thank Mr. [Senate] President for the trust and confidence. I was offered to become Majority Leader, but as of this time, I would rather remain independent,” ani Ejercito sa sesyon ng plenaryo bago ang pormal na pag-convene ng Senado bilang impeachment court sa paglilitis kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
“Thank you for the trust. Being a Majority Leader is one of the most powerful positions in the Senate,” dagdag pa niya.
Sa sesyon ng plenaryo, ipinahayag nina Ejercito at Senador Juan Miguel Zubiri ang kanilang intensyon na sumama sa Senate minority bloc na kasalukuyang pinamumunuan ni Senador Vicente Sotto III, na pinatalsik bilang Senate President noong Mayo 11.
Ang Senado ay binubuo na ngayon ng 13 miyembro ng majority bloc, at 10 sa minority. RNT/JGC
