UN anti-corruption official binisita si Ombudsman Remulla

MANILA, Philippines – Nag-courtesy visit ang isang anti-corruption official ng United Nations kay Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla na sinabing bahagi ng matibay at lumalagong ugnayan.

Nagtungo sa opisina ni Remulla si Annika Wythes, anti-corruption team lead ng United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) sa Southeast Asia and the Pacific nitong Huwebes, Mayo 21.

“The strong growing partnership between the Office of the Ombudsman and the UNODC is vital in advancing anti-corruption efforts, institutional capacity building, and international cooperation,” saad sa pahayag ni Remulla.

Ang courtesy call na ito ay dinaluhan din ni UNODC Philippines National Programme Officer Atty. Kirbee Tibayan, na nagsilbing oportunidad para pag-usapan ang future areas ng kolaborasyon, kabilang ang advanced digital forensics training, pinalakas na international cooperation mechanisms, at posibleng pagpapaunlad ng unified National Anti-Corruption Framework para sa bansa.

Sa ngayon, ang Ombudsman at UNODC ay nagtutulungan sa iba’t ibang technical training, workshops, at regional engagements na nakatutok sa financial investigations, digital evidence, anti-money laundering, corruption prosecution, asset recovery, at international cooperation.

Highlight din ng meeting ang nagpapatuloy na collaboration efforts na naka-angkla sa implementasyon ng United Nations Convention against Corruption.

Ang UNCAC na niratipikahan ng Pilipinas noong 2006 ay ang tanging legally binding universal anti-corruption framework na naglalayong ipakita ang kahalagahan ng preventive measures, criminalization at law enforcement, international cooperation at asset recovery. RNT/JGC
