MANILA, Philippines — Hindi maituturing na aksidente ang pagkamatay sa pagkalunod ng dalawang student-athletes ng Ateneo de Manila University, ayon sa paunang resulta ng imbestigasyon ng Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG).
Sa isang press briefing sa Camp Crame nitong Miyerkules, sinabi ni CIDG director Maj. Gen. Robert Morico II na hindi nangyari ang insidente sa mismong harap ng beach resort kundi sa lugar na nasa pagitan ng 300 hanggang 700 metro ang layo mula rito.
“The incident did not actually happen in front of the resort. It was about 300 to 700 meters away. The recovery effort was only 300 meters near the resort because they were swept by the current,” ani Morico.
Nang tanungin kung maaari pa ring ikonsiderang aksidente ang insidente, sinabi ni Morico: “Right now? No, it’s not.”
Nauna nang sinabi ng Aurora Provincial Police Office na naganap ang insidente may humigit-kumulang 300 metro ang layo mula sa isang beach resort sa Dipaculao, Aurora. Santi Celario
