MANILA, Philippines – NAKAAYON ang school communities sa iba’t ibang lugar sa Zamboanga City sa national government sa pagpapatibay sa campus safety kasunod ng pamamaril sa Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) na nagresulta ng pagkamatay ng dalawang estudyante kung saan isa sa kanila ang bumaril.
Sinabi ng Department of Education (DepEd), nagtapos ito sa isang coordination meeting sa Zamboanga City, araw ng Huwebes, kasama ang mga school heads na sumang-ayon na mas higpitan ang security protocols habang pantay na tinututukan ang mental well-being ng mga mag-aaral at staff.
Binigyang diin ni Eileen Pearl Aca-ac, principal ng Lumbangan Integrated School, ang pangangailangan na paigtingin ang pagiging bigilante.
“As a school principal, it’s an eye-opener that we have to double our efforts to secure our learners and we have to be cognizant that if we see even a small problem, we already have to take action on that before they escalate,” ayon kay Eileen Pearl Aca-ac.
Inulit naman ni Lunzuran Elementary School principal Raymond Zapanta ang kahalintulad na mensahe at iginiit na ang kaligtasan ay “prerequisite for education.”
“We are reminded that a safe and supportive environment is a fundamental requirement for effective learning. We must continue strengthening our system for prevention, preparedness, child protection, and the overall well-being of our learners and teachers,” ang sinabi naman ni Zapanta.
Sa kabilang dako, nagbibigay naman na ng psychological first aid at psychosocial support sessions sa mga apektadong mag-aaral, mga magulang at empleyado ng AdZU.
“Through sustained multi-sectoral engagement and shared governance, DepEd remains steadfast in implementing holistic, preventive measures to protect learners, teachers and personnel across campuses nationwide,” anito.
Binisita naman ni DepEd-Zamboanga Peninsula Director Ronelo Al Firmo ang Maria Clara L. Lobregat National High School, na nakatanggap din ng online threats.
Nagbabala naman ang DepEd sa mga gumagawa ng prank threats at nagpapakalat ng mga hindi beripikadong report na mahaharap sa matinding legal consequences. KRIS JOSE
