PUBLIC Attorney’s Office chief Atty. Persida Rueda-Acosta has welcomed the latest survey result of the Social Weather Station making her one of the top picks in the Senate race for the 2025 midterm elections.
Acosta was even more flattered by the 47 percent trust rating she obtained from 82 percent of Filipinos who were aware of her.
Conducted from December 8 to 11, 2023, which involved face-to-face interviews with 1, 200 respondents nationwide, the SWS survey also saw the chief public attorney in 9th place as among the top senatorial wannabes in the 2025 midterm elections.
She also emerged as 6th place among the 44 names in the survey in the National Capital Region, SWS Vice President Gerardo Sandoval said.
“I am so pleased and honored by the people’s continued trust in me,” said Acosta as she expressed surprise that more Filipinos would want her to be a member of the Philippine Senate as indicated by the survey result.
Despite the clamor for her to seek a Senate post, Acosta couldn’t yet confirm if she would accept the challenge thrown by some sectors including the top officers of the Fraternal Order of Eagles or the Philippine Eagles Inc. and Senator Robin Padilla who even offered himself to campaign for her.
“For now, I am more focused on my job, especially nowadays that we have an increasing number of indigent Filipinos who are trusting PAO in helping them seek justice,” she said.
“Let us see where my destiny will bring me but for now I must focus on my job as the chief public attorney, we still have more to do especially for our poor ‘kababayan’ (countrymen),” Atty. Acosta said as she expressed gratitude to Padilla for throwing his support to her this early.
By economic class, the PAO chief, who’s been the recipient of multiple awards and recognitions for her ‘exemplary government service,’ obtained 98 percent from classes A, B, and C that are aware of her.
The PAO chief said she’s high regard for the SWS as it’s been known for coming out with informative and credible survey results over the years.
