‘APT’ ng isang Chinese group, nasa likod ng cyberattacks sa PCG – DICT

MANILA, Philippines – SINABI ng isang opisyal ng Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), araw ng Miyerkules, Hunyo 26 na ang cyberattacks laban sa online sites ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ay ginawa ng Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) ng mga Tsino.

Ang APT ay isang uri ng ‘sophisticated cyberattack’ na naglalayong nakawin ang sensitive data o magdulot ng pinsala sa target na network sa loob ng mahabang panahon.

Ito ang isiniwalat ni DICT Undersecretary Jeffrey Ian C. Dy sa isang ambush interview sa Malakanyang.

Gayunman, mabilis namang nilinaw ni Dy na hindi ito ginawa ng Chinese government kundi grupo ng mga Intsik.

“Let me clarify. I never said it’s the Chinese government. I’m just saying it’s a Chinese APT. Magkaiba iyon,” paglilinaw ni Dy.

Karaniwan aniya, ang APT groups ay mayroong iba’t ibang nilalayon pagdating sa pag-atake sa isang bansa.

Ang mga layuning ito ay karaniwang nakalinya sa ‘strategic needs’ ng gobyerno na nag-isponsor sa mga ito.

“There are already reports from the US. There are already media reports from other countries. Sinasabi nila that Chinese actors are actively acting on certain government’s online site,” ang winika ni Dy.

“DICT has been very transparent… because we believe  that the only way we can fight… to strengthen our cybersecurity is to increase our  visibility on grey zone operations. Kasi grey ito. I mean they are operating in the dark,” ayon pa rin kay Dy.

“The tactics, techniques and procedures, which mean the behavior of the attacker is very, very similar to APT41 which is a Chinese group,” dagdag na wika nito sabay sabing “Primarily we revealed this during a meeting (with different government agencies).” Kris Jose
