Banggaan ng HK cargo ship at bangka ng Pinas, aksidente lang: PCG

Manila, Philippines – Tiwala ang Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) na aksidente lamang ang naganap na banggaan ng bangka ng Pilipinas at Hong Kong cargo vessel sa Occidental Mindoro kung saan 14 indibidwal ang hanggang ngayon ay nawawala.

“Yes, definitely,” ani PCG commandant Vice Admiral George Ursabia Jr.

“’Yung area na ‘yan, highway ‘yan sa dagat. Ihahalintulad lang natin sa highway dito sa lupa. They are users of the sea. While navigating, nagbangaan. Ganun lang kasimple ‘yung logic niyan,” dagdag pa nito.

Tiwala si Ursabia na hindi sinasadya ng MV Vienna Wood na danggilin ang FV Liberty 5.

“Hindi naman ganun na sinadya. I think that is very unfair kasi sa mga marinero naman, it’s a criminal act to do that. I don’t think na sinadya ‘yun. Nagkataon lang na that’s a sea lane. That’s a highway,” paliwanag pa nito.

Samantala, sa kabila ito ay patuloy pa rin ang imbestigasyon na nakatakdang magtapos sa lima hanggang pitong araw.

Posible namang maharap ang Coast Guard chief ng MV Vienna sa kasong kriminal at civil liabilities sa hindi pagbibigay ng agarang tulong sa kabilang partido.

“We have this state control system. We have this Tokyo MOU that we had in the region. Through such system, we immediately inform the flag state, the ship owner, and other concern parties.”

“We already detained the vessel effective yesterday. It is under detention already through the PSC (Port State Control) system,” lahad pa nito. RNT/FGDC
