MANILA, Philippines – Isang bata ang namamatay kada 10 minuto sa Gaza Strip, ayon kay World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus sa United Nations Security Council nitong Biyernes, Nobyembre 10.
“Nowhere and no one is safe,” babala niya.
Aniya, halos kalahati ng 36 ospital sa Gaza at two-thirds ng primary healthcare centers nito ay hindi na gumagana at ang mga nag-ooperate pa ay sagad na sa kapasidad nito.
“Hospital corridors crammed with the injured, the sick, the dying. Morgues overflowing. Surgery without anesthesia. Tens of thousands of displaced people sheltering at hospitals,” ayon kay Tedros.
“On average, a child is killed every 10 minutes in Gaza,” dagdag pa niya.
Mula noong Oktubre 7, naberipika ng WHO na nagkaroon ng mahigit 250 pag-atake sa healthcare sa Gaza at West Bank.
Sinabi naman ni Israel UN Ambassador Gilad Erdan sa Security Council na lilikha ang Israel ng taskfroce para magtayo ng mga ospital sa southern Gaza.
Noong Oktubre 12, ipinag-utos ng Israel na lumikas ang 1.1 milyong katao sa Gaza patungo sa timog na bahagi ng bansa para sa ground invasion.
“Israel is in advanced talks with the United Arab Emirates, with the ICRC and with other European countries regarding the establishment of field-hospital and floating-hospital ships,” sinabi ni Erdan.
“Israel facilitated the Jordanian airdrop of medical aid to hospitals in northern Gaza.”
“Sadly, Israel is doing far more for the well-being of Gazans than the WHO or any other UN body,” dagdag pa niya. RNT/JGC
