MANILA, Philippines- Magiging shared lanes na ang bike lanes sa kahabaan ng Ayala Avenue simula sa Miyerkules, Pebrero 15, para sa mas maraming commuter na gumagamit ng public utility vehicles (PUVs), ayon sa Makati City government.
“Starting February 15, 2023 (Wednesday), the Ayala Avenue bike lanes will be changed to sharrows or shared lanes to accommodate both bikers along with the increasing number of commuters riding PUVs and help improve traffic flow in the city,” abiso ng lokal na pamahalaan nitong weekend.
Inihayag ni AltMobility Philippines director Ira Cruz nitong Lunes na delikado para sa mga biker na gawing shared lanes ang bike lanes.
“Tutol kami doon sa kanilang minumungkahi na shared lanes dahil hindi ito realistic para sa ating mga bikers. Napaka-importante kasi na una, masigurado natin na ligtas ang mga bikers,” giit niya.
Ayon kay Cruz, mayroong road designs na pwede nilang talakayin sa Makati City government na reresolba sa mga problema ng commuters kabilang ang pagkakasa ng PUV lanes.
“We ask for your support and understanding and we look forward to nurturing the good relationship we have built with the biking community as we come up with more bike-friendly initiatives in the city,” ayon sa akati City government nitong Linggo. RNT/SA
