Canadian Navy ship dumaong sa Zambales para sa ‘goodwill visit’

MANILA, Philippines- Dumaong ang His Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) Ottawa, ang barko ng Royal Canadian Navy, sa Subic Bay, Zambales nitong Huwebes para sa limang araw na goodwill visit, ayon sa Philippine Navy nitong Biyernes.

Sinabi ng Philippine Navy na magsasagawa ang Canadian Navy personnel ng confidence-building interactions sa kanilang Filipino counterparts.

Makikilahok din sila sa outreach activity sa Aeta community at sa “Brigada Eskwela” public elementary school sa Zambales.

“This visit is expected to enhance bilateral relations between the Philippines and Canada, and demonstrates both countries’ commitment to regional security and cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region,” anang Philippine Navy.

“These interactions not only contribute to building trust and cooperation among nations but also provide opportunities for respective navies to show capabilities and share best practices in carrying out mandates in support of regional security and stability,” dagdag nito.

Pinangunahan ni commanding officer of BRP Conrado Yap (PS39) Captain Cyrus Mendoza ang Philippine delegation sa welcome ceremony.

Dumalo rin sa event sina Canada’s Ambassador to the Philippines David Hartman at Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Chairman and Administrator Jonathan Tan.

Nag-courtesy call anman si Ottawa’s captain Commander Sam Patchell at kanyang staff sa Naval Operating Base (NOB) Subic.

Nakatakda ring dumating ang isa bang barko ng Canadian Navy, ang Naval Replenishment Unit (NRU) Asterix, sa bansa ngayong Sabado bilang bahagi ng goodwill visit, base sa Philippine Navy. RNT/SA
