MANILA, Philippines – Pinagtibay ng Senado ang ilang panukalang resolusyon na nagbigay parangalan at pagkilalal kay Carlos Edriel Poquiz Yulo bilang isa sa pinakamalaking na gymnast ng Pilipinas na nagbigay ng karangalan sa bansa nang pagwagian nito ang ilang international gymnastics competitions.
Pinagtibay ng Senado ang Senate Resolution No. (SRN) 458 na inihain ni Senate President Juan Miguel “Migz” F. Zubiri kasama ang SRNs 23, 248, 276 ni Sen. Manuel “Lito” Lapid; SRN 269 ni Majority Leader Joel Villanueva; SRN 273 ni Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.; SRN 281 ni Sen. Cynthia Villar at SRN 292 ni Zubiri.
“Gymnast Carlos Yulo continues to bring pride and glory to the Philippines as he reaps medals from various sporting competitions, planting Philippine flags as he takes the world by storm,” ayon sa resolusyon.
Ayon kay Zubiri, itinaas ni Yulo ang bandila ng Pilipinas bilang kauna-unahang Filipino na magwagi ng bronze medal sa 2018 World Artistic Gymnastics Champions.
“ Yulo is also the first Filipino gymnast na nagwagi ng gold medal sa Men’s Floor Exercise event sa 2019 World Artistic Gymnastics Championship, na siya ang kauna-unahang Southeast Asian male world champion,” giit pa ng lider ng Senado.
Nitong 2019 Southeast Asian Games, nagdala si Yulo ng dalawang ginto at limang silver medals para sa Pilipinas at nagwagi din ng ginto sa Men’s Vault category sa 2019 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
Bukod dito, nagwagi din si Yulo ng limang gintong medalya sa 2022 Southeast Asian Games, Yulo na ikinokonsiderang kauna-unahang sa lahat ng atletang Filipino. Nakopo din niyaa ng gold, silver at bronze medals sa iba’t-ibang kategorya sa 55th Annual all-Japan Seniors Championships at isang silver medal sa Men’s Vault event at bronze medal sa Men’s Parallel Bars event noong 2022 World Gymnastics Championships sa Liverpool, United Kingdom.
“Carlos Yulo’s triumph in the global arena has brought pride, glory and inspiration to the Filipino people and has repeatedly proven to the world the persistent and indomitable spirit of the Filipino, for which he deserves to be honored and commended,” ayon kay Zubiri.
Pinuri naman ni Villanueva si Yulo bilang pinakabatang gymnast kaya’t nararapat na bigyan ng buong suporta, papuri at pagkilala ng buong bansa.
“He is an inspiration to all of us, especially to millions of young aspiring athletes. He has time and again made the country proud for his world-class talent, determination and unwavering commitment to excellence as shown in his impressive performance in these competitions,” ayon kay Villanueva.
Pinuri din nina Senador Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada, Robin Padilla, Pia Cayetano, Ronaldo “Bato’ Dela Rosa, Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go at Revilla Jr, si Yulo sa ginanap na sesyon.
