MANILA, Philippines – Sinupalpal ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) ang pinakahuling pahayag ng China na kumukundena sa resupply mission ng Pilipinas sa Ayungin Shoal.
“What we do to our BRP Sierra is none of their business, and they should not interfere,” pahayag ni AFP spokesperson Colonel Medel Aguilar sa sidelines ng isang forum nitong Sabado, Oktubre 7.
Ang pahayag ni Aguilar ay kasunod ng pagkundena ng China sa mission ng apat na barko ng Pilipinas para magdala ng suplay sa Filipino troops sa Ayungin Shoal, sa pagsasabing ang mga ito ay pumasok sa dagat ng Spratly Islands na walang permiso mula sa kanila.
“China has indisputable sovereignty over the Nansha Islands, including the Ren’ai Reef, and its adjacent waters, and firmly opposes the illegal delivery of construction materials by the Philippines to the illegally grounded warship,” pahayag ni China Coast Guard spokesman Gan Yu.
Ani Aguilar, huwag na dapat intindihin ng China kung ano ang ginagawa ng Pilipinas sa BRP Sierra Madre, isang World War II transport ship-turned-military outpost sa Ayungin.
“Wala silang pakialam. What we do to our BRP Sierra Madre is our responsibility; they should not interfere,” dagdag pa niya.
Ang BRP Sierra Madre ay nakahimpil na sa Ayungin Shoal noon pang 1999 na nagsisilbing simbolo ng soberanya ng bansa sa territorial waters nito.
Noong Miyerkules, sinabi ni Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri na gumawa na naman ng peligrosong maneuver ang barko ng China sa barko ng Pilipinas habang patungo ang mga ito sa Ayungin Shoal para sa resupply mission ngayong buwan.
Nang tanungin naman si Aguilar kung ano ang plano ng AFP sa patuloy na pagharang ng China sa resupply missions, sagot niya:
“It cannot always be this way.”
Sinabi pa niya na, “the morale of our troops in the West Philippine Sea is high, and they are determined to work harder to make sure the interests of the country are protected.”
“This is because of the support they are hearing from almost all Filipinos and for the international community for standing by the Philippines in its position on matters concerning the West Philippine Sea,” pagpapatuloy ni Aguilar. RNT/JGC
