MANILA, Philippines- Nasunog ang Commission on Elections (Comelec) office sa bayan ng Sta. Margarita sa Samar, na may pinsalang aabot sa ₱345,000 nitong Huwebes, ayon sa Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Office 8.
“Our local office in Sta. Margarita, Samar was completely damaged by fire this morning. We are waiting for [the] results of the investigation,” ulat ni Comelec Chairman George Garcia nitong Biyernes.
Nauna nang inihayag ni Garcia na walang importanteng papeles na naapektuhan ng insidente at lahat ng dokumento para sa Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) ay nadala na sa treasurer’s office. Naiproklama na rin ang mga nanalong kandidato bago ang sunog.
Kabilang sa mga naiulat na napinsala sa insidente ang computers, laptops, printers, aircons, desks, chairs, water dispenser, cabinets, at rice cookers.
Samantala, lahat ng dokumento tulad ng book of voters, election results, Election Day Computerized Voters List (EDCVL) National and Local Election (NLE) for 2022 and 2023, certificates of candidacy, at statements of contributions and expenditures (SOCE) ay ligtas.
