MANILA, Philippines- Iginiit ng Office of the Vice President (OVP) nitong Miyerkules na ang confidential funds nito ay “utilized appropriately” ilang araw matapos ilabas ng Commission on Audit (COA) ang ulat sa gastos ng opisina.
Subalit, hindi idinetalye ng OVP kung paano ginamit ang confidential expenses.
“The confidential fund has been utilized appropriately for its intended purpose and in accordance with the guidelines set by the national government,” pahayag ng OVP.
Noong July 3, inilahad ng state auditors rsa kanilang ulat na tumaas ang confidential expenses sa opisina sa ilalim ni Vice President Sara Duterte sa P125 million noong 2022, mula sa zero confidential expenses noong 2021 sa ilalim ni dating vice president Leni Robredo.
Inihayag pa ng COA sa report nito na bumaba rin ang assistance and subsidy ng OVP sa local government units at non-government organizations sa P378.82 million noong 2022 mula sa P526.713 million noong 2021.
Anang OVP, ito ay dahil sa mas mababang budget sa ilalim ng 2022 General Appropriations Act.
“The decrease in the amount of financial assistance/subsidy from Fiscal Year 2021 to Fiscal Year 2022 was due to a lower amount of budget/appropriation under the 2022 General Appropriations Act, in view of the anticipated election ban and transition in 2022,” pahayag ng OVP.
Sinita rin ng COA ang hindi pagtalima ng OVP sa procurement laws. Sinabi ng state auditors na hindi alinsunod sa Government Procurement Reform Act ang pagbili ng OVP sa halagang P668,197.
Sa inisyal na tugon sa COA, tiniyak ng OVP na ang mga property na binili nito ay “used prudently.” RNT/SA
