MANILA, Philippines – Puspusan na ang Department of Agriculture (DA) para maabot ang pangako ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na P20 kada kilong bigas sa mga pamilihan.
Sa pahayag ng Palasyo, sinabi ni DA Assistant Secretary for Operations Arnel De Mesa na ang kagawaran, lokal na pamahalaan at mga magsasaka ay nagtutulong-tulong para mapababa ang presyo ng bigas ng P20 hanggang P25 kada kilo.
“Everyone’s working double time and giving their share to make sure that the targets of the President are delivered,” ani De Mesa.
Ayon sa DA, kasalukuyang ibinibenta na ang bigas sa presyong P25 kada kilo sa “Bigasan ng Bayan” sa Negros Occidental sa suporta ng Federation of Irrigators Association of Central Negros-Bago River Irrigation System (FIACN-BRIS).
Nasa kabuuang 10% ng produksyon ng FIACN-BRIS ay ibinibenta sa “most vulnerable sector.”
“We are not only looking after the welfare of the consumers but the rice producers as well,” dagdag ni De Mesa.
