MANILA, Philippines- Inilahad ng Department of National Defense (DND) nitong Huwebes ang proposed greenfield opportunities sa defense at security industries sa European Union (EU).
Sinabi ng DND na iminungkahi ito ni Defense Secretary Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. sa courtesy call ni Ambassador of the Netherlands to the Philippines Marielle Geraedtss sa departamento nitong Martes.
“As a way to advance overall bilateral cooperation, Secretary Teodoro proposed greenfield opportunities in various industries, particularly in defense and security, with the Netherlands and the EU,” anang DND.
Iginiit ni Geraedts na ang proposal sa pagtatatag ng naval defense industry cooperation sa Pilipinas ay may kalakip na strategic at economic advantages.
Sinang-ayunan naman ito ni Teodoro, base sa DND.
“Secretary Teodoro agreed and further proposed to develop broader defense cooperation, taking into consideration the importance of other areas such as cyber and artificial intelligence, as well as the Netherlands’ potential to become a partner in these areas,” pahayag ng DND.
Ibinahagi tin ni Teodoro sa Geraedts ang recalibration ng defense strategy ng Pilipinas, na tututok na ngayon sa territorial at external defense.
Binigyang-diin pa niya ang development ngcredible defense posture upang protektahan ang interes ng Pilipinas sa exclusive economic zone nito.
