MANILA, Philippines- Sinabi ng Department of National Defense (DND) na hindi dapat isama ang bagong pasok sa Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) sa proposed mandatory contribution para sa military and uniformed personnel (MUP).
Inihayag ito ng DND, ayon kay Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, sa Senate plenary deliberations sa P233.27 bilyong proposed budget ng departamento para sa 2024.
“The stand of the DND right now is even more noble because ang stand nila is talagang totally non-contributory, kahit na ‘yung new entrant, walang pension,” ani Dela Rosa.
Ipinaliwanag ni Dela Rosan dumepensa sa budget ng departamento sa Senado, na ang AFP ay mayroong assets na maaaring pagkunan ng pondo para sa new entrants, active at retired military personnel.
Subalit, saklaw lamang umani nito ang AFP at hindi ang iba pang law enforcement agencies.
“According to the Secretary, with the present resources that the AFP has right now ay talagang kung isama mo ‘yung lahat ng uniformed personnel baka hindi kakayanin. Hanggang sa AFP lang yon,” pahayag niya.
“Maybe, it will take a secretary like [Defense Secretary Gilber Teodoro Jr.] to look for a solution as far as the other uniformed personnel is concerned,” dagdag ng senador.
Nauna nang sinabi ni Teodoro na ang unang marching order ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ay ang patuloy na ewporma sa MUP pension system. RNT/SA
