MANILA, Philippines – Naghain ng karagdagan pang reklamo ang Department of Justice (DOJ) patungkol sa plunder, graft, malversation of public funds, grave misconduct, at dishonesty, laban kay suspended Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief Gerald Bantag dahil sa di-umano ay maling paggamit nito ng pondo na para sana sa mga pasilidad nito sa Davao, Palawan at Leyte.
Maliban kay Bantag, kaparehong reklamo rin ang inihain ng DOJ laban sa lima iba pang BuCor officials: C/Insp. Ric Rocabura, CO1 Solomon Areniego, CTO1 Jor-el de Jesus, CTO2 Angelo Castillo, at CTO Alexis Catindig.
Ayon sa dokumento ng DOJ na may petsang Pebrero 4, si Bantag at ang iba pang mga opisyal ay kinasuhan dahil sa di-umano ay “unlawful and malicious falsification of official documents that resulted in the misappropriation” ng pondo ng BuCor na gagamitin sana sa pagpapatayo ng mga pasilidad sa Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm sa Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, Davao Prison and Penal Farm, at Leyte Regional Prison.
“They knowingly connived with, and/or consented to the commission of violation of laws, rules, and regulations that resulted in the loss of government funds,” saad sa dokumento.
“Such dishonest acts of altering, concealing or distorting the truth on [matters] relevant to their office, or connected with the performance of their duties, caused serious damage and grave prejudice to the government and the same constitute,” dagdag pa.
Si acting prisons chief Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. at legal team nito ang nanguna sa pagsasampa ng reklamo.
Wala pang tugon ang kampo ni Bantag at iba pang inakusahan patungkol sa isyung ito. RNT/JGC
