NAGHAHANDA na ang Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) na i-roll out ang e-visa sa India matapos na palawakin ang
beta system test sa lahat ng foreign service posts (FSPs) sa China.
“Further to the President’s policy directive on the implementation of the e-Visa system, the DFA is preparing to expand e-Visa operations to India before the end of the year in view of reciprocity in visa policies and the economic potential of the Indian tourism market,” ang pahayag ni DFA spokesperson Ma. Teresita Daza.
Lumabas kasi sa pinakabagong data ng Department of Tourism na naka-puwesto ang India sa pang-12 sa hanay ng top foreign visitors noong 2023, na may 58,504 na naitala “as of October 2023.”
Nauna rito, sinasabing palalawigin ng pamahalaan ang implementasyon ng electronic visa para sa foreign travelers na nasa bansa.
Ito’y matapos hilingin ni Indian Ambassador Shambhu Kumaran kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na payagan ang extension ng e-visa para sa Indian nationals na nananatili sa Pilipinas.
Ang e-visa ay travel permit in electronic form. Pinabibilis nito ang proseso ng pagkuha ng visa dahil imbes na mag-apply nang personal sa embassy o consular offices, pwede na itong gawin sa kanilang gadgets. Maaari nang magpa-book ng schedule online ang mga nais bumisita sa Pilipinas gamit lang ang kanilang passport numbers, phone number at email address.
Nagkaroon ng soft launch ang e-visa noong August 24, 2023 sa Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai, China. China ang ikalawa sa may pinakamaraming turista na pumupunta sa Pilipinas bago pa man ang pandemya kaya naman dito napiling gawin ang pilot testing.
Winika ni Daza na ang operasyon ng system ay nagsimula nang palawakin sa lahat ng Philippine FSPs sa China sa ilalim ng beta testing parameters.
“Under the said parameters, walk-in and remote e-Visa applicants are assisted by Post’s personnel to address inquiries and technical issues in navigating the system,” aniya pa rin.
Sa ulat, mula Agosto 24 hanggang Nobyembre 6, ang lahat ng Philippine embassies at consulates sa China ay nagpalabas na ng kabuuang 1,739 Philippine e-visas.
“The DFA gathered that the e-visa applicants can navigate the e-visa system with general ease, and received the necessary support for minor technical difficulties,” ayon kay Daza sabay sabing “Refinements to the system are continuously being deployed with the assistance of the Department of Information and Communications Technology based on the feedback of clients and issuing FSPs.”
