MANILA, Philippines – Muling magpapadala ang Pilipinas ng mga mangga patungo sa Australia, iniulat ng Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI) nitong Biyernes, Setyembre 8.
Sinabi ni DA-BPI Director Gerald Glenn Panganiban na naunang nagpadala ang bansa ng nasa 1,500 kilo ng Carabao mangoes sa isang simpleng seremonya na ginanap sa Philippine Airlines (PAL) cargo terminal nitong Setyembre 6.
“The export of fresh mangoes to Australia is a milestone achievement for our agricultural sector. The meticulous planning, rigorous adherence to international quality standards, and continuous efforts of our farmers and exporters have culminated in this momentous occasion,” saad sa pahayag ng DA.
Sinabi ni Panganiban na nagbukas ito ng pagkakataon sa agricultural products ng bansa at pagpapalakas sa ugnayan sa ibang bansa.
Ani DA-BPI Assistant Director for Research, Development and Production Support Services Herminigilda Gabertan, ang ugnayan ng DA-BPI, Bureau of Customs (BOC), PAL, at Hi-Las Marketing Corporation sa pagpapadala ng mangga sa Sydney at Perth ang nagmarka ng kauna-unahang fresh mango export mula sa Pilipinas patungo sa Australia sa nakalipas na 10 taon.
“It was in 2013, when we last exported mango to Australia, so this is a big step towards our mango industry development considering that we really need to promote these products outside of our country,” aniya.
Nagpasalamat naman si Gabertan sa mga exporter mula sa Hi-Las at iba pang partner mula sa pribadong sektor at siniguro sa pamahalaan, partikular na sa DA-BPI at BPI-National Plant Quarantine Services Division (NPQSD), na patuloy itong aasistehan. RNT/JGC
