MANILA, Philippines – Pinalitan ng Kamara si Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo bilang senior deputy speaker.
Sa plenaryo kagabi ay nagmosyon si Iloilo Rep. Lorenz Defensor na nagsilbing Majority Floor Leader upang palitan si Arroyo at ang magiging kapalit ay si Deputy Speaker Aurelio Gonzales.
“Mr. Speaker, I move to elect the honorable Aurelio ‘Dong’ Gonzales Jr., representative of the third district of Pampanga as senior Deputy Speaker vice the honorable Gloria Macapagal Arroyo,” pahayag ni Defensor.
Agad namang inarpunahan ni Deputy Speaker Democrito Mendoza na siyang tumayong presiding officer ng sesyon, ang mosyon matapos na walang tumutol dito.
“I move to elect the honorable Gloria Macapagal Arroyo as representative of the second district of Pampanga as Deputy Speaker vice the position vacated by the newly-elected senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio ‘Dong’ Gonzales Jr.,” kasunod na naging pahayag ni Defensor sa plenaryo.
Ang ikalawang mosyon ay inaprubahan din ni Mendoza.
Ipinaliwanag ni House Majority Leader Manuel Jose Dalipe na ang paghalal kay Gonzales bilang ikalawang pinakamataas na lider ng Kamara ay upang bawasan ang gampanin ni Arroyo.
