MANILA, Philippines – Binigyang-diin ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang kahalagahan ng suporta na ibinibigay ng Japanese government sa Pilipinas sa pagsasagawa ng proseso ng kapayapaan partikular na sa Southern region ng bansa.
Sa naging talumpati ng Pangulo sa isinagawang courtesy call sa mga miyembro ng Japanese parliament, pinasalamatan ng Chief Executive ang gobyerno ng Japan para sa patuloy na suporta sa Philippine peace process at hindi mabilang na development assistance.
“It has been a critical part of our peace process. It is a process that we have been undertaking for many, many years and I think and finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, the participation of the Japanese support in that peace process has been invaluable,” ayon kay Pangulong Marcos.
Tinukoy ng Pangulo ang Japan-Bangsamoro Initiatives for Reconstruction and Development (J-BIRD) program ng Japanese government na may kaugnayan sa long-term support para sa governance, decommissioning at socio-economic development.
Ang Japanese government, ayon sa Pangulo ay matagal ng sumusuporta sa peace process sa pamamagitan ng iba’t ibang mekanismo partikular na ang International Monitoring Team (IMT), International Contact Group (ICG) at Independent Commission on Policing (ICP).
“As per government figures, from 2002 to 2019, Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) for Mindanao’s peace and development has reached 51 billion Japanese yen,” ayon sa ulat.
Samantala, pinasalamatan naman ni Pangulong Marcos ang Japanese government para sa pagbibigay sa mga Filipino ng tirahan, ikabubuhay at trabaho sa Japan.
“Our countrymen are unanimous in their expressions of their own gratitude for how they have been accepted into the workforce — of the Japanese workforce — and into the society, of the fabric of Japanese society,” ayon kay Pangulong Marcos.
Sa ngayon, makikita sa pigura ng pamahalaan na mayroong 300,000 Filipino ang nakatira at nagta-trabaho sa Japan.
Inimbitahan naman ni Pangulong Marcos ang mga miyembro ng Japanese parliament na bumisita sa Pilipinas upang makita ng mga ito resulta ng tulong na patuloy na ibinibigay ng kanilang gobyerno sa mga mamamayang Filipino.
“Look at the effects of this support that you have been giving us, not only in Southern Philippines but all the many — especially infrastructure projects that Japan has supported over the years,” ang pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos.
Kabilang naman sa mga dumalo sa meeting ng Japan-Philippines Parliamentary Friendship League (JPPFL) ay sina dating Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo; Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri; House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez; Special Assistant to the President, Secretary Antonio Ernesto Lagdameo Jr.; at Senator Mark Villar para sa Philippine delegation.
Ang JPPFL participants naman ay mga miyembro ng Japanese House of Representatives sa pangunguna ni Chairman Moriyama Hiroshi, Vice Chairmen Okuno Shinsuke, Takemi Keizo at Nakagawa Masaharu.
Si Pangulong Marcos, kasama ang mga Philippine top government officials at business leaders, ay kasalukuyan ngayong nasa Japan para sa five-day official visit ng una. Kris Jose
