MANILA, Philippines- Hinihiling ng Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) sa publiko na manatiling “vigilant and take precautionary measures” matapos mabiktima ng ransomware attack noong September 22.
“Using the stolen data, the hackers will likely target members through calls, emails, or text messages. Let us then heed the advice of authorities to refrain from clicking doubtful links or providing passwords or OTPs. It is best to ignore suspicious calls and to delete text or emails instead from unknown and suspicious senders,” pahayag ni PhilHealth chief Emmanuel Ledesma, Jr. nitong Linggo.
Umapela rin ang state health insurer na iwasan ng publiko ang pagpapakalat ng datos dahil mayroon itong karampatang parusa sa ilalim ng batas.
Kamakailan, sinabi ng mga awtoridad na maaaring maharap ang hackers sa hanggang 20 taong pagkakabilanggo, habang sinuman indibidwal o organisasyon na napag-alamang guilty pag-download, pagproseso o pagbabahagi ng datos ay mananagot din sa unauthorized processing ng personal information at maaaring kasuhan.
Gayundin, inihayag ng PhilHealth na nakipag-ugnayan na ito sa National Privacy Commission, National Bureau of Investigation, Philippine National Police upang busisiin ang hacking incident.
Samantala, naibalik na ang public-facing applications, member portal, eClaims for electronic submission of hospital claims, at EPRS (Electronic Premium Remittance System) para sa employer remittances hanggang nitong October 6, ayon sa PhilHealth.
