Maharlika target maglaan ng $1B pondo para sa energy projects

MANILA, Philippines- Sinabi ng Maharlika Investment Corp. (MIC), ang entity na nangangasiwa sa sovereign wealth fund, na plano nitong maglaan ng $1 bilyon para sa energy projects sa pagtatapos ng taon.

Sa sidelines ng economic forum na hinost ng German Club Manila, sinabi ni MIC President and Chief Executive Officer Rafael Consing Jr. na hihilingin niya sa board na maglaan ng hiwalay na pondo para sa energy investments, bukod saP125 bilyong seed capital.

Ito, ayon kay Consing, ay dahil sa risk limit na 15 percent na inilagay nila sa kapital ng MIC na nangangahulugang “for every sector, we can only invest about 15 percent of total funds.”

Nangangahulugan ito na sa P125 bilyon, magkakaroon ng P18.75 bilyon para sa kada sektor tulad ng agrikultura, edukasyon, at enerhiya.

“And it’s going to be measured over a period of about five years because the reality is that as we deploy, those percentages will differ,” wika ng MIC president nitong Miyerkules.

“But it will be fine-tuned, again, over a period of time, over five years. So today, against 125 billion of seed capital, call that P18.75 billion,” patuloy niya.

“So it begs the question, how can we spend that 18.75 billion many times over? The requirements, for example, in energy, is more than 18.75 billion,” aniya pa.

Upang ma-capitalize ang P18.75 billion fund, inihayag ni Consing na lilikha siya ng limitadong partnership sa ilang sovereign wealth funds, kung saan ang MIC ang magiging fund manager.

“So, therefore, P18.75 billion will be effectively converted into a billion dollars. And that’s how we’re able to, therefore, spend it more than two or three times that amount,” aniya. RNT/SA
