MANILA, Philippines – Handang maglaan ng $600 milyon o nasa P33.7 bilyon ang Malampaya Consortium, pagmamay-ari ng Prime Energy Resources Development BV ni Enrique Razon, para sa eksplorasyon at drilling activities sa labas ng existing production area nito sa Service Contract 38 (SC 38).
Sa virtual press briefing nitong Martes, Mayo 16, sinabi ni Energy Undersecretary Alessandro Sales na handa ang consortium na magsagawa ng exploration at drilling ng nasa dalawang bagong deep water wells sa unang bahagi o mula 2024 hanggang 2029 ng programa sa ilalim ng 15-year renewed production contract.
“In total, for two wells and the tieback for production, this would amount to about $600 million,” sinabi ni Sales.
Aniya, tinitingnan ng consortium ang nasa $80 milyon hanggang $90 milyon na gastos sa bawat balon.
“Aside from the well cost, if the production wells become successful, we would need to spend another $330 million to $360 million for the tie back and the subsea facilities to allow the field wells to reproduce,” sinabi pa ni Sales.
Sa kabila nito, sinabi ng consortium na naghahanda sila para sa drill sa tatlong balon.
“So this is above the committed program in the renewal contract.”
Nitong Lunes, matatandaan na pinirmahan na ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang renewal agreement para sa Malampaya SC 38, na pumapayag sa 15 taon pa ng produksyon ng gas.
Nakatakda na sanang mapaso sa Pebrero 22, 2024 ang 25-year production contract ng SC 38.
Ayon sa Department of Energy (DOE) ang contract renewal “will allow for the continued production of the Malampaya gas field, ensuring that the remaining gas reserves are further explored and utilized.” RNT/JGC
