MANILA, Philippines- Hinikayat ni National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) Executive Director, Undersecretary Ernesto Torres Jr. ang mga natitirang kaanib ng New People’s Army (NPA) na sumuko na at abandonahin ang kanilang armadong pakikibaka at mag-avail ng amnesty program ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
“We wish to convey our condolences to the families of those terrorists who perished in the Pantabangan clash. Nakikiusap din kami sa mga natitira pang NPA na sumuko na para maiwasan ang mga ganitong pagdanak ng dugo,” ayon kay Torres.
Sa ulat, pitong miyembro ng New People’s Army ang nasawi matapos ang engkwentro sa mga sundalo Miyerkules ng hapon sa Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija.
Ayon sa ulat, nakasagupa ng mga tauhan ng Philippine Army 84th Infantry Battalion ang mga rebelde na miyembro ng Komiteng Rehiyong Gitnang Luzon ng NPA sa barangay Malbang.
Ang nangyaring sagupaan ay resulta ng nakaraang bakbakan nitong Hunyo 20 sa remote area ng Sitio Marikit East, Barangay Abuyo, Alfonso Castaneda sa Nueva Vizcaya.
Wala namang naiulat na nasawi o nasugatan sa panig ng mga sundalo.
Samantala, ang mga nasawi naman sa panig ng mga rebelde ay sina Hilario Guiuo, kilala bilang “Berting,” acting secretary ng rebel group at regional operation commander; Harold Sarenas Meñosa alyas “Luzon,” Ptln Silangan Gitnang Luzon (PSGL) commander; Pepito Trinidad Bautista alyas “Dylan,” team leader Sqd Tersera ng PSGL; Reynan Mendoza alyas “Mel;” at Archie Anceta alias “Joel.”
Narekober mula sa insidente ang tatlong M14 rifle, anim na M16 rifle, at ilan pang mga personal na gamit.
Kumpiyansang inihayag ni Torres na ang armed component ng Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) ay ‘mawawalis’ din ngayong taon.
“We have to end this decades-long NPA terrorism, sustain the peace gains, and strengthen our Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP). We have to continue capacitating all the NPA-free barangays by bringing in more sustainable development and livelihood projects to increase their income and raise the quality of their lives,” pahayag niya.
Sinabi pa ni Torres, ang kamakailan lamang na sagupaan sa KRGL, nauwi sa pagkamatay ng mahahalagang lider, binigyang-diin ang paghina ng kondisyon ng mga natitirang paksyon.
“The KRGL, once a formidable force, has been significantly weakened by the destruction of its units and the recent deaths of senior individu“When we say weakened, these NPA fronts have no more capabilities to launch armed attacks and cause considerable damage to targets. Most importantly, weakened fronts have no more mass bases to depend on, especially logistics,” paliwanag ni Torres.
Base aniya sa pinakabagong AFP data, may humigit-kumulang na 1,000 NPA remnants na lamang ang pinaghahanap sa kagubatan, at ang mga ito ang mga pangunahing target ng amnestiya ng pamahalaan sa pamamagitan ng National Amnesty Commission.
“We appeal to all the NPA remnants to avail (of) the amnesty program of the President. There are mechanisms already in place anytime these terrorists want to return to mainstream society, rebuild their lives and their families, and live in peace. We have the Local Peace Engagement (LPE) and the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP),” ayon kay Torres. Kris Jose
