MANILA, Philippines- Upang depensahan ang imahe ng Kamara ay muling nagkaisa ang supermajority sa Kamara na manawagan kay dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na magsampa ng kaso sa halip na magparatang nang walang inilalabas na ebidensya laban sa institusyon na sumuporta sa administrasyon nito.
Ayon sa nagkakaisang pahayag ng mga lider ng supermajority na nadungisan umano ang imahe ng Kamara sa paratang ng dating Pangulo na mayroon pa rin itong pork barrel na matagal nang ipinagbawal ng Korte Suprema.
Ginawa ni Duterte ang paratang habang ipinagtatanggol ang anak na si Vice President Sara Duterte sa paggamit nito ng P125 milyong confidential fund na naubos sa loob lamang ng 11 araw noong 2022.
“It is critical to remember that the ‘pork barrel’ system, which former President Duterte alluded to, has been deemed unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. Our Members are firmly committed to respecting and upholding this ruling,” ayon sa pahayag ng mga lider ng iba’t ibang partido.
“Rather than making sweeping allegations in the media, we advise the former president, if he has tangible evidence of wrongdoing, to present it to the appropriate authorities,” dagdag naman ni House Secretary-general Reginald Velasco.
Noong 2024 ay humirit ang Office of the Vice President ng P500 milyong confidential fund at P150 milyon naman para sa Department of Education na parehong pinamumunuan ni VP Sara.
Ang supercoalition ng Kamara ay binubuo ng Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats, Nationalist People’s Coalition, Nacionalista Party, National Unity Party, PDP-Laban, Party-list Coalition Foundation Inc., at iba pa.
Muling iginiit ng supermajority sa inilabas na pahayag na ang desisyon na ilipat ang confidential fund ng mga civilian agency sa mga ahensya na kasama ang mandato sa pagbibigay ng proteksyon sa West Philippine Sea ay alang-alang sa kapakanan ng bansa.
“It is essential to understand that this decision was made for the benefit of the nation and not as a personal affront to any individual, including Vice-President Duterte,” banggit pa sa naturang pahayag.
Una rito ay nagpahayag ang mga mambabatas ng suporta sa liderato ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez sa pangunguna ng Mindanaoan solons matapos batuhin ng mga akusasyon ang liderato ng Kamara matapos na mai-realign ang P1.23 bilyong confidential funds sa ibang ahensya na nangangalaga ng seguridad ng bansa sa West Philippines Sea.
Sa magkakahiwalay na Facebook posts nina Reps. Ace Barbers (Surigao del Norte), Cheeno Miguel D. Almario (Davao Oriental), Maricar Zamora (Davao de Oro) at Francisco Jose “Bingo” Matugas (Surigao del Norte) ay tinukoy ng mga ito ang nagawa ng Kamara bilang tugon sa mga paratang ni dating Pangulong Duterte.

I join hands with my colleagues in support of the leadership of Speaker Martin Romualdez and the priority legislations of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, aimed towards advancing the interests of the people, uplifting their lives through measures that improve the economy, safeguarding our territory and ensuring our safety in the face of threats against our nation’s peace and independence,” ani Barbers.
Sa panig naman ni Almario ay sinabi niyang, “As a proud Neophyte member of the House of Representatives, I wish to express my unwavering support for our esteemed Speaker Martin Romualdez, and the leadership of the House.”
Aniya, nirerespeto niya ang pananaw ni dating Pangulong Duterte ngunit taliwas aniya ang pinakahuling COA report.
