MANILA, Philippines- Hindi magkukulang ang suplay ng tubig at magpapataw ng dagdag-singil sa gitna ng banta ng El Niño, ayon sa Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) nitong Miyerkules.
“We will be able to overcome even with the occurrence of El Niño. We prepare for El Niño whether it is mild, moderate or strong. We prepare for the worst,” pahayag ni MWSS Administrator Leonor Cleofas sa House Committee on Metro Manila Development hearing sa umuunting water supply sa rehiyon nitong Miyerkules.
Umaasa naman si Valenzuela 2nd District Representative Eric Martinez na totoo ang pahayag na ito.
Naglaan ang National Water Resources Board (NWRB) ng 52 cubic meters per second (cms) sa MWSS ngayong Mayo.
Sinabi ni Cleofas na magkakaroon ng karagdagang volume ng tubig na ide-deliver para matiyak na sapat ang suplay sa concessionaires.
“Because of the 52 million liters per day we requested from the NWRB, we have lessened water interruptions,” dagdag niya. “The instruction of MWSS is to do the maintenance when people are sleeping.”
Sinabi pa ng MWSS official na walang dagdag-singil kahit na may banta ng El Niño. Aniya, nakasaad sa concession agreement na magdaragdag lamang ng singil kada limang taon.RNT/SA
