MANILA, Philippines – Nakiisa sa buong mundo sa pagkondena sa naganap na malawakang pag-atake ng Hamas sa mga sibilyan sa Israel ang liderato ng Malaking Kapulungan ng Kongreso.
Binigyang diin ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez na ang madugong pag-atake ay nagdulot na ng pagkasawi ng maraming buhay at pagkasugat ng libu-libong katao sa Israel.
“Today, I join voices from around the world in strongly condemning the heartbreaking attacks against innocent civilians in Israel. The devastation and loss suffered by families during such significant moments of reverence are beyond words.I align myself with the sentiments of global leaders and advocates for peace, emphasizing that dialogue and understanding are paramount. True change can only be achieved when we respect and protect the rights of civilians, as stipulated under international law.”
Aniya, ang marahas at hindi inaasahang pag-atake ng Hamas ay magsilbi nawang paalala na daan tungo sa karahasan ay lalo lamang nagpapalala sa mga sugat at alitan.
“It is a reminder that the path of violence only deepens wounds and rifts. I urge all involved parties, especially the militant rulers of Hamas, to pave a way toward a peaceful resolution. The history of this region has seen enough bloodshed; sustainable peace is the only way forward,” dagdag pa ni Romualdez.
Nanawagan din ang mambabatas sa mga Pilipinong nasa Israel na agad makipag-ugnayan sa pinakamalapit na tanggapan ng embahada ng Pilipinas upang matiyak ang kaligtasan ng mga ito kasabay ng kaniyang apela na maging mapagmatiyag sa mga pangyayari sa kanilang paligid.
“To our Filipino brothers and sisters living or working in Israel, my thoughts are with you. The Departments of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and Migrant Workers (DMW), and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) are now working overtime to ensure your safety and well-being. Please remain vigilant and prioritize your safety during these turbulent times. Your welfare is a matter of paramount importance to us.”
Patuloy na umaasa si Romualdez na ang sigalot at matagal ng alitan sa pagitan ng dalawang panig ay maayos sa mapayapang paraan.
“May peace prevail in the region and may the global community come together to support a harmonious resolution to this longstanding conflict.”
Samantala, nagpahayag naman ng pagkaalarma si Kabayan Partylist Rep. Ron Salo para sa kaligtasan ng mga Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) na nabihag diumano ng grupong Hamas malapit sa Israel-Palestine border.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the affected OFWs and their families during this challenging time. The safety and well-being of our kababayans is of utmost priority, and our government needs to ensure their swift and safe return to their loved ones.”
Umapela rin ito sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) at Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) na gawin ang lahat upang matiyak ang ligtas na pagpapalaya sa mga bihag.
“We also call on the international community to support our country’s efforts of ensuring that the rights and well-being of our OFWs, as well as all the others who were captured, are respected. We urge all parties involved to exercise restraint and adhere to international humanitarian laws.”
Pakiusap pa ni Salo maging sa mga kamag-anak na huwag mawalan ng pag-asa habang kumikilos naman aniya ang gobyerno.
“In these trying times, let us stand united as one nation, extending our support and prayers to the safe and swift return of our fellow Filipinos in distress, and for this international crisis to be resolved and end immediately,” ani Salo. Meliza Maluntag
