MANILA, Philippines – Muling isinulong ni House Committee on Dangerous Drugs Chairman at Surigao del Norte Rep Robert Ace Barbers ang pagkakaroon ng Dangerous Drugs Courts kasunod ng paglobo ng mga hindi nareresolba na drug cases na umabot na 72% 9 nasa 300,000.
Sa inihaing House Bill 9446 o An Act Promoting the Speedy Disposition of Drug Cases by Creating a Special Court to be Known as ‘Dangerous Drugs Court’ in Every City and Province Nationwide, na inakda ni Barbers, sinabi nito na batay sa datos ng Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Philippine National Police (PNP) at National Bureau of Investigation ay nasa 405,062 drug cases ang naihain sa pagitan ng taong 2000 hanggang 2022.
Nakalulungkot umano na sa nasabing bilang ay nasa 28% o 114,610 kaso lamang ang naresolba kaya nasa 72% ang patuloy na nakabinbin sa mga korte.
Ani Barbers, makikita sa mabagal na pagresolba ng mga drug cases na mayroon nang “congested trial courts” na dapat agad nang tugunan.
“The absence of drug courts delays the issuance of court orders and other processes in destroying, seizing or confiscating illegal drugs. This became a “window of opportunity” for rogue cops to operate by recycling illegal drugs used to plant evidence or sell back on the streets,” paliwanag ni Barbers.
Patunay umano rito ang datos ng PNP at PDEA na nasa 8,662 kilo ng shabu at 4,233 kilo ng marijuana ang hindi pa nasisira at nananatiling nasa kustodiya ng mga law enforcement agencies.
