MANILA, Philippines – Naniniwala si Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman na ang ginawang demosyon kay Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo ang syang dahilan ng pagkalas din ni Vice President Sara Duterte sa Lakas-CMD party na pinamumunuan ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Si Arroyo ay inalis bilang House Senior Deputy Speaker at ginawang Deputy Speaker, pinalitan ito ni Pampanga Rep. Dong Gonzales sa nasabing pwesto.
Ayon kay Lagman maaaring may kinalaman na sa 2028 Presidential election ang nangyayaring alingasngas ngayon.
“The positioning and contest for the 2028 presidential elections have begun even before the 2025 mid-term elections. The stripping of Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo of her Senior Deputy Speaker position and the subsequent resignation of Vice President Sara Duterte from the ruling Lakas-CMD party are obviously related,” paliwanag ni Lagman.
Ani Lagman, matatandaan na noong 2018 ay si Sara ang sinasabing nasa likod din ng pagpapatalsik noon kay dating House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez ilan oras bago ang State of the Nation Address (Sona) ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
“It would be recalled that Arroyo and Duterte were the principal conspirators in the ouster of then Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez and the ascendancy of Arroyo as Speaker in 2018,”paliwanag ni Lagman.
“The power play and intramurals in Lakas may result in further resignations by Arroyo and Duterte loyalists. These political developments will have repercussions in the revamp of the Marcos cabinet,” dagdag pa ng opposition leader.
Una nang sinabi ni Arroyo na nang manalo si Pangulong Marcos noong eleksyon ay inasam nito ang pagiging House Speaker subalit mas kinatigan nito na si Leyte Rep Martin Romualdez ang hirangin na House Speaker bilang pinsan at malapit sa Pangulo. Gail Mendoza
