MANILA, Philippines- Target ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) na magsagawa ng panibagong dayalogo sa Kuwaiti government matapos mainindigan ng huli sa entry ban at suspensyon ng paglalabas ng visa sa Filipino nationals.
Sa panayam, sinabi ni Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Paul Raymund Cortes na nirerespeto ng Manila ang mga batas at regulasyon ng Gulf state at makikipag-ugnayan umano ang DFA sa Kuwait para magkasa ng panibagong pulong upang talakayin ang isyu.
“Kuwait is a sovereign country, they have their own laws, they have their own regulations, we respect them and we also want to make sure that when we’re in another country, we abide by their lines and not cross it,” pahayag niya.
“Regrettably, may mga actions that were construed as violations, but we will continue working with the Kuwaitis on ensuring na ‘yong tinging natin when it comes to taking care of the well-being of our Filipinos are within the bounds of their laws,” dagdag ng opisyal.
Sinabi ni Cortes na nagpapasalamat ang Manila sa patuloy na pagtanggap ng Kuwait sa mahigit 200,000 Pilipino na naninirahan at nagtatrabaho roon.
“We will continue that dialogue so hopefully in the future, magkaroon ng better understanding on what constitutes as assisting our nationals within the bounds of their law,” aniya.
Iniulat ng state-run Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) nitong Huwebes na pinagtibay ng Ministry of Interior ang suspensyon ng paglalabas ng lahat ng visas sa Philippine passport holders matapos “ibasura” ng Manila ang hiling na Kuwait na kilalanin ang umano’y mga paglabag ng Philippine Embassy doon.
Batay sa Kuwait Public Authority of Manpower, sinabi ng KUNA na isa sa mag “violations” ng Manila ang pagpapatuloy sa mga Pilipino sa “shelters and camps” na pinangangsiwaan ng embahada.
Kasunod nito, inihayag ng Ministry of Interior na kukuha ito ng “skills and expertise needed for its labor market through contracts with other countries.” RNT/SA
