MANILA, Philippines- Nakalusot na sa Kamara sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa ang panukala na nagre-require sa building permit applicants na magtanim ng mga puno upang maibsan ang epekto ng climate change.
Inaprubahan ng Kamara ang House Bill (HB) No. 8569 — kung saan ginagawang rekisitos ang Tree Planting Plan (TPP) upang makakuha ng building permits para sa residential, commercial, industrial, at public building developments — sa plenary session nitong Miyerkules.
“Under the bill, any person, firm, corporation, department, office, bureau, agency or instrumentality of the government intending to construct, alter, repair or convert any building or structure, is required to set aside, and properly maintain in said property, areas adequate for planting and maintaining trees and flora,” pahayag ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez.
“[The bill] also specifies the contents of the TPP, including the species to be planted,” dagag niya.
Gayundin, sinabi ni Romualdez na nakasaad sa Section 4 ng panukala na mas mainam na magtanim ng indigenous species ng mga puno sa mga lokasyon at topograpiya ng mga lugar kung saan mabubuhay ang mga ito.
Samantala, inirerekomenda naman ang non-vigorously growing endemic ornamental plants o mga puno at namumungang puno para sa residential lots. RNT/SA
