MANILA, Philippines- Bibisita si Pangulong President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. sa Indo-Pacific Command sa Honolulu, Hawaii, ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs official nitong Martes.
Sa isang Palace press briefing, inihayag ni DFA Undersecretary Charles Jose na makaaambag ang pagbisita sa sa kooperasyong sinusubukang buuin ng Pilipinas sa “like-minded states.”
“He’s being invited to visit the Indo-Pacific Command…” ani Jose.
“It adds a layer to the cooperation that we are trying to establish with like-minded states in order to promote what we have been advocating all along. A rules-based order especially in the maritime areas,” dagdag niya.
Nang tanungin kung pinaunlakan ng Pangulo ang imbitasyon, sinabi ni Jose, “Yes, it’s already in the President’s schedule on the visit but I don’t have the complete details with me right now. But I know, it’s part of the President’s program.”
Subalit, hindi na idinetalye ni Jose ang pagbisita ng Pangulo sa Indo-Pacific Command.
“Like I said, I don’t have the details but I would imagine that would be part of the visit. There would be a security briefing,” anang opisyal.
Magaganap ang pagbisita ni Marcos sa Indo-Pacific Command sa gitna ng patuloy na tensyon sa West Philippine Sea.
Nauna nang inihayag ni Marcos ang pagiging bukas sa pagpapalawig ng trilateral engagements sa Japan at sa United States.
Handa ang Pilipinas, United States at Japan na isulong ang malaya at bukas na Indo-Pacific at tiyakin ang mapayapang resolusyon ng mga alitan, ayon kay US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Kris Jose
