PBBM magsasagawa ng bilateral meetings sa ASEAN Summit – DFA

MANILA, Philippines- Magdaraos si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ng ilang bilateral meetings kasama ang ibang world leaders sa sidelines ng 43rd ASEAN Summit sa Indonesia.

Ang talakayan ay partikular na nakatuon sa bilateral cooperation.

“With Vietnam, the focus will be on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries and, of course, cooperation on rice and food security. With Xanana Gusmão of Timor Leste, of course the President will congratulate him on his assumption of office last July, but at the same time we will reassure Timor Leste of our cooperation with their country in the years to come, especially in their preparations for final membership in ASEAN,” ayon kay Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Daniel Espiritu sa press briefing sa Malakanyang.

“And then with Hun Manet, again, the President intends to congratulate the new Prime Minister on his assumption of office… and again will be discussing matters of mutual concern between our two countries,” dagdag na wika nito.

“And then, with President Yoon Suk Yeol of Korea, we’ll be discussing new areas of cooperation in time for the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea,” aniya pa rin.

Ang 43rd ASEAN Summit ay magaganap sa darating na Setyembre 5 hanggang 7 sa Jakarta.

Ani Espiritu, ang summit ay magsisilbing plataporma para sa mga lider para magpalitan ng pananaw ukol sa mahahalagang  regional at international issues, bumuo ng consensus hinggil sa  usapin ng mutual interest, at magbigay ng policy direction para sa  ASEAN community sa mga darating na taon.

Inaasahan naman aniya na dadalo si Pangulong Marcos sa 13 leader-level engagements sa panahon ng summit, kabilang na ang 43rd ASEAN Summit Plenary Session, Opening Ceremony of the ASEAN Indo-Pacific Forum, at 43rd ASEAN Summit Retreat Session.

Inaasahan din na dadalo si Pangulong Marcos sa 26th ASEAN-China Summit, 24th ASEAN-Republic of Korea Summit, 26th ASEAN-Japan Summit,  26th ASEAN Plus Three Summit,  ASEAN-US Summit, at ASEAN-Canada Summit.

Gayundin, inaasahang magpapartisipa si Pangulong Marcos sa 20th ASEAN-India Summit, 18th East Asia Summit, 3rd ASEAN-Australia Summit, at 30th ASEAN-UN Summit.

Ayon kay Espiritu, sa panahon ng engagements, patuloy na paninindigan ni Pangulong Marcos at isusulong ang interes ng Pilipinas sa ibang bansa.

“He will highlight our advocacies in strengthening food and energy security, harnessing the potential of the digital to create industries and MSMEs, and addressing the impacts of climate change, among others,” ayon kay Espiritu.

“The President will also continue to emphasize our efforts to protect migrant workers in crisis situations as well as combating trafficking in persons, especially with the use or abuse of technology. Other priority areas of cooperation with dialogue partners will also be discussed,” dagdag niya.

Sinabi pa ni Espiritu na “more than 90 outcome documents are targeted to be issued, adopted, or noted during the summits. “

Ang 43rd ASEAN Summit ay magtatapos sa Setyembre 7 na may handover ceremony ng ASEAN chairmanship mula Indonesia tungo sa Laos. Kris Jose
